A total of 33 drinking water and sanitation projects worth EGP 3.073 bn will be completed in Greater Cairo and Alexandria by June 30, Invest-Gate reports.
According to a statement, the projects will include 25 sanitation projects worth EGP 2.451 bn and eight drinking water projects at a cost of EGP 622 mn. Moreover, there will be five projects in Cairo, seven in Giza, 19 in Qalyubia and two in Alexandria.
“Sanitation projects enjoy processing capacity of 91,000 cubic meters per day, and drinking water projects have a total capacity of 352,000 cubic meters per day,” says President of Executive Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Greater Cairo and Alexandria Hassan Al-Far.
In Cairo, five projects are being completed at a total cost of almost EGP 1 bn; four of which are sanitation projects worth EGP 903 mn. The expansion of a water plant in Cairo is costing EGP 1.1 mn, with a total capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day.
However in Giza, seven projects are underway at a total cost of EGP 759 mn, five of which are sanitation projects worth EGP 594 mn with a processing capacity of 35,000 cubic meters per day. Two drinking water projects are also underway to serve the centers of Al Saff and Al Ayyat at a total cost of EGP 165 mn, with a processing capacity of 110,000 cubic meters per day
In Qalyubia, a total of 19 projects are expected to be completed at a total cost of EGP 1.197 bn, 14 of which are for sanitation projects worth EGP 841 mn, with a processing capacity of 57,000 cubic meters per day and five drinking water projects at a total cost of EGP 356 mn, with a capacity of 141,000 cubic meters per day.
As for Alexandria Governorate, two sewage projects worth EGP 113 mn will be completed to serve the areas of Thalathini Street and the surrounding areas, as well as the area of “Five-Hundred” in the district of El-Muhagireen.
