Dubai’s Expo Village, built for the 2020 Expo, will be converted to a freehold residential project after the Expo concludes, reported Reuters Zawya on Wednesday, quoting a senior executive.

According to the report, the residential community development, designed to host staff from participating countries, is already being built to freehold specifications, and is expected to be completed by 2018.

All in all, 80% of the Expo site are supposed to be repurposed following the event to help make the Expo more sustainable and get the full potential out of the site, said Najeeb Al-Ali, Executive Director of the Expo 2020.
