Assem El Gazzar, minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities, said that 25 integrated urban and investment projects obtained ministerial approvals for their urban design and planning in the first quarter of 2020, Invest-Gate reports.
To be located in 11 new cities, the 2,535-acre projects will contribute to pumping EGP 100 billion investments in the real estate sector, while providing 100,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, the minister added on May 5.
Almost 98 projects with a total area of 15,615 acres were approved in the fourth generation cities during the period from 2018 till the first quarter of 2020, according to Waleed Abbas, assistant minister for community affairs of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).
The first quarter of 2020 also saw the issuance of ministerial approvals for the establishment of four new cities, namely New Fashn, New Malawi, New 6th of October, and New Qena Expansions. This is in addition to the urban extension of New Tiba and Latin neighborhood in New Alamein, Abbas added.
In April 2020, NUCA said it is investing EGP 55 bn in a number of under-construction national projects including new cities. Other developments underway are the Maspero Triangle, Ahl Misr Promenade, and social housing projects.
