Orascom Development Holding’s hotel subsidiary Orascom Hotels Management (OHM) inked on December 19 an agreement with global travel company Thomas Cook Group to establish a new beachfront hotel property in El Gouna, in addition to rebranding another hotel in the area, Invest-Gate reports.
Under the deal, both firms will partner up to build a new 100-room luxury beachfront hotel property dubbed “Casa Cook El Gouna.” The agreement also comprises the rebranding of Arena Inn, El Gouna’s 144-room downtown hotel, to come to be “Cook’s Club Hotel,” Orascom Development said in a statement.
“Casa Cook El Gouna, set to open in October 2019, will offer a range of family-friendly accommodation including two-bedroom villas with private pools and suites with shared pools,” the statement noted.
While Cook’s Club Hotel is set to open its gates in summer 2019 and will cater to a new generation of travelers seeking a “stripped-back design hotel,” the statement added, underlining that the 144-room hotel will offer a massive, beachside pool, a street-food style canteen restaurant, and a DJ.
Commenting on the contract, CEO of Orascom Development Khaled Bichara said, “We are excited about the partnership with Thomas Cook and El Gouna’s being the first home to Thomas Cook’s newest Hotel brands in the Middle East.”
On his part, Chief of Thomas Cook Hotels and Resorts Enric Noguer commented, “Opening both hotels in the same destination provides us with an attractive opportunity to attract new customers to this stunning part of Egypt and is a testament to how attractive our brands are that we continue to attract partners like Orascom Development.”
Introduced in 2016, Casa Cook is the luxury hotel brand of Thomas Cook, along with the Casa Cook Rhodes. Cook’s Club builds on the success of Casa Cook, featuring the same design-led ethos to larger properties at a much accessible cost.
