Around 6,800 applicants have reserved social housing units that are offered for rent, as the deadline for reserving these units is next Wednesday, according to Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Mostafa Madbouly.
The units are targeted towards citizens with monthly incomes of less than EGP 1,500. The total number of applications withdrawn from the Housing & Development Bank recorded 14,828, according to a statement released on Monday.
A total of 5,706 two-bedroom apartments were previously offered in October for rent as part of a social housing project in 10 governorates, aimed at low-income citizens according to Mai Abdel Hamid Chairman of the Mortgage Finance Fund, according to Al Borsa.
The housing units were available in the governorates of Ismailia, Suez, Qaliubya, Menoufiya, Damietta, Minya, Sohag, North Sinai, Qena, and Beheira, added Abdel Hamid.
