Elsewedy Industrial Development to Establish an Integrated Industrial and Logistics Zone Supporting Mining and Export Industries in Upper Egypt
The Golden Triangle Economic Zone Authority has signed its first industrial developer agreement with Elsewedy Industrial Development to develop an integrated industrial and logistics zone spanning a total area of 6 million square meters in the city of Safaga. The agreement was signed by Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Deputy Chairman of the Authority, and Eng. Mohamed AlKammah, CEO of Elsewedy Industrial Development. The signing ceremony was attended by Eng. Mohamed Abady, Chairman of the Golden Triangle Economic Zone Authority; Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric; Dr. Walid El-Barqy, Governor of the Red Sea; members of the Board of Directors of the Golden Triangle Economic Zone Authority; the Elsewedy Industrial Development team; and representatives of TAQA Arabia, Invest-Gate reports.
The agreement marks the first industrial developer contract signed by the Authority, reflecting the state’s commitment to expanding the role of the private sector and experienced national companies in developing and operating industrial zones, while accelerating development and investment across Upper Egypt.

Under the agreement, Elsewedy Industrial Development will develop the zone in three phases based on a comprehensive master plan aimed at establishing an integrated industrial and logistics hub. The project will primarily focus on downstream mining industries, mineral-based manufacturing industries, logistics activities, warehousing, and supporting services for production and exports.
The project enjoys a strategic location near both multipurpose and specialized ports, including Safaga Port and Abu Tartour Port, while also being connected to major road networks linking Safaga with Upper Egypt governorates, particularly Qena, which provides a significant labor force. This strategic connectivity enhances access to domestic and international markets and offers investors competitive advantages in transporting raw materials and finished products.
The project is expected to attract new industrial investments, maximize the added value of the region’s abundant mineral resources, increase exports, strengthen supply chains, and create direct and indirect employment opportunities for residents of Upper Egypt and the Red Sea Governorate.
Eng. Mohamed Abady, stated that signing the first industrial developer agreement represents a major milestone in the development of the region and reflects the Authority’s efforts to complete the necessary regulatory and institutional framework required to launch projects on the ground.

He added that the project reflects the state’s strategy of building effective partnerships with the private sector and leveraging the expertise of leading Egyptian companies to develop competitive industrial zones capable of attracting both local and foreign investments. He emphasized that the Authority aims to transform the Golden Triangle into an integrated hub for industry, mining, and logistics services, serving as a gateway connecting Upper Egypt with export markets.
The partnership between the Authority and Elsewedy Industrial Development will incorporate international best practices in the development and operation of sustainable industrial zones. This includes utilizing renewable energy as part of the area’s energy mix, improving resource efficiency, expanding green spaces, and implementing modern environmental standards.

For his part, Eng. Mohamed AlKammah, said: “The signing of this agreement marks an important step in Elsewedy Industrial Development’s journey to expand integrated industrial development in promising regions and transform the Golden Triangle’s natural and logistical advantages into investment opportunities and diversified productive projects. We look forward to developing an industrial zone capable of attracting high-value investments in mining, manufacturing, and export-oriented industries by providing advanced infrastructure, integrated services, and a sustainable operating environment that enables investors to establish operations, grow their businesses, and access both domestic and international markets.”
He added: “Our vision for this project extends beyond developing land and infrastructure. We seek to establish a fully integrated industrial community that connects industry, logistics, and technical education, while increasing the added value of mineral resources, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and supporting the state’s efforts to achieve balanced economic development across Upper Egypt and the Red Sea Governorate. This project is fully aligned with Elsewedy Industrial Development’s commitment to promoting sustainable industrial development and advancing industrial localization in Egypt, reflecting the company’s long-term vision for comprehensive and balanced economic growth.”

As part of both parties’ commitment to community development in the region, the project is planned to include a branch of Elsewedy Technical Academy within the industrial zone. The academy will train and qualify skilled technical professionals based on the actual needs of targeted industries, helping bridge the gap between technical education and labor market requirements while providing investors with the qualified workforce needed for operations and future expansion.
The signing of the agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between the Golden Triangle Economic Zone Authority and Elsewedy Industrial Development. The partnership aims to transform the region’s economic potential into productive projects and tangible investments, supporting the state’s strategy for the development of Upper Egypt, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and contributing to the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
