Radisson Hospitality Group to Invest in 10 New Hotels in Africa

Radisson Hospitality AB, a subsidiary of Radisson Hotel Group, will invest in ten new hotels across Africa, in an attempt to boost its expansion across the continent, Invest-Gate reports.

Radisson’s move comes as part of its growth strategy in Africa as a key initiative in “Destination 2022”, the group’s five-year strategic operating plan to become one of the top three hotel companies in the world, according to a company’s statement.

“We’re thrilled to add ten new hotels in just nine months. The transactions are strategically aligned to deliver our five-year development plan across the continent, the introduction of new brands and a scaled growth in Africa’s key destinations,” Radisson Hotel Group’s Executive Vice President and CEO Elie Younes said in the statement.

“So far this year, we’ll be adding more than 1,300 rooms to our portfolio in Africa, and we plan to continue this accelerated growth through further expansion in our focus markets across this flourishing continent,” Younes added.

The group will debut a luxury hotel in Nigeria, Ivory Coast’s first upscale lifestyle hotel, and a Radisson Blu in Morocco’s Casablanca, in addition to other hotels in Nigeria, Tunisia, Niger, and the Republic of Guinea.

In total, Radisson Hotel Group has 90 hotels with over 18,000 rooms in operation and under development across 31 countries in Africa, and eyes to reach 130 hotels with more than 23,000 rooms by 2022.
