Housing Minister Issues Orders to Remove Illegal Structures in Northwestern Coast Areas

The Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, has issued four orders to remove several unauthorized construction violations within the jurisdiction of the Second Sector Development Authority of the Northwestern Coast, Invest-Gate reports.

The measures are part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts, in coordination with New Urban Communities Authorities, to curb construction violations and safeguard urban planning regulations and building standards.

The orders cover violations in several areas. In El-Dabaa, authorities will remove a building containing four shops with a reinforced concrete roof that was constructed without the required permits. Another violation in the area west of the El-Dabaa project involves the construction of a fence spanning approximately one feddan without a permit and in breach of applicable regulations.

The decisions also include the removal of unauthorized shops in the Fouka area, south of the Coastal Road. In addition, authorities will remove a violation in the Jefaira area, north of the Coastal Road, where a plot of land was enclosed with a wooden fence and foundations were laid for the fence over an area of approximately 1,000 square meters.

Concrete foundations were also constructed inside the plot in preparation for building construction, all without the required permits.

Intensified Campaigns to Address Construction Violations and Encroachments

Meanwhile, Minister Randa El-Menshawy reviewed the results of recent field campaigns carried out by the New October Gardens, 6th of October, New Akhmim and Badr City Authorities to address construction violations, illegal occupations and encroachments, while ensuring compliance with social housing occupancy regulations.

In October Gardens, the City Authority continued its campaigns to monitor and immediately address construction violations. In cooperation with the relevant authorities, an extensive field campaign was carried out across several areas.

The campaign halted the storage of construction materials that were being prepared for the unauthorized addition of a floor to a plot in Sector (D), within Hadayek El Yasmeen “Ebny Beitak 4.” It also included the immediate removal of rear setback foundations from another plot in Sector (C) in the same area.
Authorities also immediately removed rear setback walls from a plot in Sector (W), Hadayek El Yasmeen “Ebny Beitak 4,” as well as wooden formwork installed for a side setback on a plot in Sector (R), Zahraa October “Ebny Beitak 7.”

In 6th of October City, the City Authority continued its intensive campaigns across the southern sector to address illegal waste-sorting hotspots, encroachments and unauthorized occupations, while preserving the environment and the city’s visual appeal.

The campaigns resulted in the seizure and impoundment of two vehicles used for waste sorting. Vehicles used for the unauthorized sale of beverages were also seized and impounded.

Authorities further addressed a waste-sorting hotspot at Magda Square and removed the sorted materials from the site. The campaigns also included the removal of several encroachments at El-Hossary Square.

Monitoring Social Housing Units and Removing Encroachments

In New Akhmim City, the City Authority conducted inspection campaigns targeting social housing units to ensure compliance with allocation and occupancy requirements and to safeguard the proper delivery of housing support to eligible beneficiaries.

The campaigns focused on verifying that beneficiaries were actually occupying their allocated units and had not sold or rented them in violation of applicable regulations. Authorities also checked that the residential units were not being used for activities other than those for which they were allocated.

In Badr City, the City Authority launched a large-scale campaign to remove encroachments and unauthorized occupations from the mall located in the Al-Narges area of the Fifth District, as part of its efforts to maintain order and preserve the city’s overall appearance.

The campaign targeted encroachments and unauthorized uses that obstruct movement and negatively affect the area’s public appearance, while reinforcing the prohibition on using public spaces and pedestrian passageways in violation of applicable regulations.
