One of World’s Biggest Mosques to be Opened in NAC Early 2019

State-run Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), the master developer of the New Administrative Capital (NAC), has announced its plans to inaugurate one of the world’s biggest mosques in the new city by early 2019, Invest-Gate reports.

The mosque, called El-Fattah El-Aleem Grand Mosque, is set to be one of the major giant facilities in Egypt, built on a total area of 59 acres. It is scheduled to open within this week, according to a post on ACUD’s official Facebook page on December 29.

It was fully built by Egypt’s construction firm Arab Contractors in 22 months, under the supervision of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and it is expected to accommodate a total of 17,000 prayers, the company added.

The grand mosque encompasses a praying area, women praying area, two ablutions for men – and the same for women, and two elevators for those with special needs, besides a heavenly messages museum, Quran memorizing unit, and a charity hospital with a capacity of 300 beds.

NAC, or the under-construction new capital city, is part of the Egyptian government’s plan to expand urban areas to deal with the state’s rapid population growth as well as to improve the nation’s infrastructure. It will cover a total area of 170,000 acres, with 21 residential districts to accommodate 5 mn people.
