Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar said EGP 14 bn worth of mortgage finance support has been provided till the end of June 2018, while the value of financial support to beneficiaries of the social housing project amounted to approximately EGP 2.6 bn, Invest-Gate reports

El Gazzar noted that 82,000 social housing units are currently being implemented, he said during a press conference held on March 7.

He pointed out that the ministry has faced some challenges to execute this huge number of social housing units, such as the provision of lands owned by the government for the project implementation, in addition to the sustainable funding and scrutiny of data provided by applicants.

Additionally, he revealed that the housing ministry holds a weekly meeting to follow up on the implementation of the social housing project in different areas in Egypt.
