Gov’t Investments in New Obour Amount to EGP 4.9 bn

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar has confirmed that investments worth EGP 4.9 bn are being pumped into existing and underway projects in New Obour city, of which EGP 1.4 bn are to be invested in the current fiscal year, Invest-Gate reports.

El Gazzar noted that 26,160 units are being executed in the country’s social housing project, including residential and service units, which are roughly 65% completed. Besides, the ministry aims to begin working on an additional 2,496 units in the distinguished social housing project, he said in a ministerial statement on April 11.

On his part, Head of New Obour City Authority Wael Samir stated that 35 service projects are currently under construction, including schools, malls, hospitals, as well as, police and fire stations.

Samir explained that the city’s road network, which covers 2,600 acres, is currently under development, while the water network, alongside irrigation and drainage systems, have already been installed.

Meanwhile, the official pointed out that a detailed plan is being developed to establish a number of projects in New Obour on a 5000-acre land. This plan, he said, will include 23,088 social housing units, 5,376 units in Sakan Misr, and 6,864 residential units in JANNA for luxury housing. Additionally, 303 land plots will be offered, alongside 2,082 acres for building communities, while 408 acres and 468 acres will be dedicated to regional and local services, respectively.
