UAE-based Sheikh Zayed Housing Program (SZHP) has approved the launch of engineering consultancy tenders for the construction of a 250-unit residential neighborhood at Khor Fakkan in Sharjah’s eastern region, Trade Arabia reports.

The winning group will provide the planning, design and supervision services for the project, said a statement received by the Bahrain-based news website from SZHP.

The decision came at the SZHP’s board meeting, during which the board members approved 1,000 decisions to support the country’s real estate sector, as part of its housing program in 2019, the statement added.

The housing project is estimated to cost between AED 800 mn to AED 1 bn (USD 218 mn to USD 272 mn), and is likely to be completed by the end of 2022, the statement stated.

Every housing unit, located in Al Owainat area of Khor Fakkan, will have an estimated area of 360 square meters, with three to four bedrooms each that could be expanded in the future.

The UAE Government has prioritized housing, wellbeing, and social cohesion, stated Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, minister of infrastructure development and chairman of the program.

The program has built five residential neighborhoods around the country since its establishment, totaling 1,490 housing units. The neighborhood of Al Soyooh in Sharjah is the first one in the emirate. Currently, three more are being constructed around the country, comprising a total of 1,990 housing units, he added.
