Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir announced on May 24 the completion of developing and expanding Borg El Arab Development Axis, with a total cost reaching EGP 700 mn, Invest-Gate reports.
The road project connects Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road and International Coastal Road with Borg El Arab and Sidi Kerir areas. Additionally, it aims to ease crossing to Borg El Arab International Airport, Borg El Arab Stadium, and Borg El Arab Industrial Zone, El Wazir said in a recent official statement.
The first part of the project extends from Kafouri to El Hawari Square, extending 18.5 kilometers long to the north till Sidi Kerir, while the second part is 10 kilometers in length and stretches from El Hawari Square to Borg El Arab, the minister explained.
El Wazir pointed out that the new road comes as part of transport ministry’s wider plan to implement and develop a number of transport axes located in west Alexandria, adding that the development scope of this project in specific included expanding the road capacity to three traffic lanes in each direction and establishing a service road in both directions, comprising two lanes.
