ACUD, Orange Egypt to Build Africa’s Largest Data Center in NAC

State-run Administrative Capital of Urban Development (ACUD) and Egypt’s mobile network operator Orange Egypt have teamed up to set up Africa’s largest data center for cloud services in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Invest-Gate reports.

Works, which will be undertaken by an unnamed consortium of qualified international firms, include the establishment, operation, and management of the facility to centralize information technology (IT) operations citywide within one year, the property developer announced on its official Facebook page on January 6.

Etisalat Misr was earlier awarded a contract by ACUD for supplying and maintaining management control systems (MCSs) at NAC. The latter will offer technological solutions and technical support within the new capital, alongside US-based Honeywell International and Misr Trade and Investment (MTI), while also installing some well-crafted integrated systems for digital services, according to a previous statement last December.

Back then, Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, chairman of ACUD, pinpointed that the move is in line with the company’s wider strategy to make NAC the largest smart city worldwide in the near future. He also underlined that the developer seeks to form new joint ventures with more foreign entities to incorporate its management centers and smart utilities into services on-site, namely electricity, energy, natural gas, and communication systems.
