The government is developing a total of 26,064 residential units in New Cairo’s Sakan Misr and JANNA public housing projects, with investments estimated at EGP 9 bn, Invest-Gate reports.
Merely 8,760 properties are 85% complete at JANNA luxury housing project, whilst another 17,304 houses are 75% done at the new city’s Sakan Misr middle-income project, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assam El Gazzar said in a ministerial statement on January 7.
Speaking of the latest services on-board, Head of New Cairo Development Authority Adel El Naggar stated that the first public university, dubbed “New Cairo Technological University,” had opened its doors in 2019. This comes on top of inaugurating two new Nile International Schools, besides establishing an internal transport system to connect all communities within the new city, he continued.
Meanwhile, work is underway to upgrade the existing road networks, while also releasing new ones to ease traffic congestion, not to mention executing three sewage treatment plants, among incorporating other infrastructure developments at the newly-introduced extensions, particularly Beit El Watan land areas, El Naggar further added.
According to the official, the city council has concluded financial planning and finalized New Cairo’s 2019 budget, registering costs valued at EGP 11 bn.
