Orascom Development Egypt (ODE) has signed a school development agreement with a private investor to develop a K-12 international school in O West, with total investments up to EGP 500 mn, Invest-Gate reports.
The school will be managed and operated by Kent College, a British school operator and one of the top 10 UK schools with 130 years of history, according to a press release published on February 16.
This marks Kent Colleges’ debut into the Egyptian and the African educational market, and comes as part of ODE’s efforts to continuously bring and provide the best level of services offered to O West’s growing community.
Commenting on the agreement, ODE’s Co-CEO Ashraf Nessim, “We are different in what we do and in what we call town development in all our destinations and we will always try to bring the best-in-class service providers to our communities across our destinations.”
Kent College O West is slated for operation in the third quarter of 2022, a year before the delivery of the first real estate units in O West.
The 70-classroom school will accommodate 1,500 students, providing high-quality education through around 400 members of staff. The school will also feature laboratories, libraries, performing arts spaces, sports spaces, and student collaboration areas.
Students will have the STEAM education system to be tutored by British certified teachers, with the national UK curriculum to be implemented followed by IGCSE, and the IB curriculum will be optional in senior years.
In February, ODE has announced the official launch of O West, following the remarkable demand witnessed on the compound’s soft launch in December 2018.
