UAE shopping mall operator, Majid Al Futtaim, broke ground on global retailer Carrefour’s new regional distribution centre at the National Industries Park (NIP) in Dubai, Invest-Gate reports.
“The facility is four times the size of Carrefour’s current largest distribution center building in the region,” according to Younis Al Mulla, senior vice-president for Development and Government Affairs at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.
Expected to save over 50% energy per cubic meter, the distribution center will feature advanced warehousing, storage, and logistics technologies.
The center will support Carrefour’s brick and mortar stores, with a total storage capacity of over 400 million units.
