Egypt is eyeing the production of 84 mn tons of cement annually starting from 2020, Invest-Gate reports.
Head of the Cement Section at the Building Materials Chamber in the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) Medhat Stefanos announces the target during a Cairo news conference.
Stefanos says that Egypt has taken the 12th position among the world’s best cement producing countries. “We are (also) expecting that Egypt will be at the top of the list of the world’s cement exporting countries after China and India,” the official adds, according to MENA.
He also notes that the target comes in line with the state’s strategy to export cement to world countries and make it contribute to national production.
Cement exports can also total 10-13 million tonnes every year in the coming period at a total value ranging between $300 million and $1 billion, Stefanos says.
