Egypt’s national developer City Edge Developments (CED) has awarded an EGP 138 mn contract to Gama Construction for carrying out construction works of phase II of Sheikh Zayed’s Etapa, Invest-Gate reports.

“The contract ensures a 12-month construction schedule, which is in line with our aspiration to continue the fast pace of development,” said CEO of CED Mohamed El Mikawi, hailing the rapid construction progress on-site, according to the company’s press release on May 3.

As for the health safety measures taken to grapple with the Coronavirus pandemic, El Mikawi explained, “We are keen to provide full protection for our workers and partners in all work sites from possible infection. Accordingly, we have set up a number of safety measures such as sterilizing gates which workers pass through, in addition to presenting hand sanitizers, gloves, and masks upon arriving at the project premises.”

“Most importantly, we have further distributed the workforce across different rotational shifts in order to avoid congestion at construction sites and prevent the spread,” he added.

On his part, Gama Construction Chairman Amr Al Tawil noted, “It will be challenging, but we are confident we will deliver on quality and on time as is our standards.”

Launched in 2018, Etapa marks a high-end mixed-use project aimed at bringing a new residential theory with an authentic vision to west Cairo’s real estate scene.

In May 2019, CED signed contracts with Dubai-based ASGC and general contracting company Redcon Spain to carry out construction works of Etapa and Etapa Square in west Cairo.
