Saudi Arabia to Isolate Dammam Over Coronavirus

Saudi Arabia will isolate the industrial area of Dammam starting from May 3 to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, state news agency SPA reports.

Freight shipments will be able to come and go from the area, Dammam Second Industrial City, SPA said, citing an interior ministry official.
The decision allows vital factories to operate at one-third capacity, the news agency added.

In April, Saudi Arabia had revised its coronavirus curfew timings for the holy month of Ramadan. The country has partially lifted restrictions across the country, while keeping 24-hour curfews in the city of Mecca and neighborhoods previously put in isolation.

Some economic and commercial activities are also allowed to restart, including wholesale and retail shops and shopping malls, from April 29 until May 13.

However, areas under a complete lockdown will only be allowed to go out for essential needs, such as grocery shopping or medical visits, between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.
