Breaking News: El Gazzar Goes Into Quarantine After Exposure to Coronavirus

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar began a 14-day self-isolation on June 11 for having been in contact with a Coronavirus carrier, Invest-Gate reports.

No further details related to preliminary assessment and symptoms, test date and results, or even name/title of the positive COVID-19 case have been released yet, according to a recent ministerial statement.

El Gazzar had been present at an expanded meeting on June 10 to review the New Suez general strategic plan, in the presence of several ministerial officials and leaders of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), along with the project’s consultancy group, as highlighted in a previous statement.

On June 1, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly had announced that Egypt is set to witness a surge in the number of Coronavirus patients in the next two weeks, recording 38,284 positive cases to date. The death toll currently stands at 1,342 and 10,286 people fully recovered, pursuant to the latest official data.
