Egypt-based Orascom Construction has successfully funded, built, and fitted a new 170-square-meter Emergency Gynaecology Unit at Qasr El Aini Hospital in Egypt, Invest-Gate reports.

The fully-equipped unit has been expanded to treat at least 100-120 patients per day, in accordance with the highest international standards. “The whole area is adequately ventilated with concealed air conditioner units,” the press release added.

It comprises a wide reception, specialized examination spaces, in addition to administrative rooms and offices for doctors, nurses, and staff, it further stated.

Orascom Construction’s consolidated net profit reached USD 24.9 mn (EGP 393.8 mn) in Q1 2020, down 26% from the USD 33.7 mn (EGP 533.02 mn) logged in the year-ago period, according to the company’s latest financial results, reporting a standalone net loss of USD 2 mn (EGP 31.63 mn) in the January-March period of the year.

Starting last March, Qasr El Aini Hospital has been designated as an isolation hospital for Coronavirus-infected medical, teaching, and administrative staff of Cairo University, as part of the state’s efforts to combat pandemic spread.
