Madbouly Follows Up on Projects Worth EGP 37 bn in New Cities

Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting with leaders of the ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) on January 25 to follow up on projects worth of EGP 37 bn in new cities, Invest-Gate reports.

NUCA introduced social housing projects to 22 new cities, with units encompassing up to 90 sqm. The authority also provided 18 new cities with 75,000 units, which are currently undergoing final finishes.

The ministry announced the total sum of units to be 340,532 units in both phases, with 101,472 units in the first phase and 239,060 units in the second phase. 149,112 units were constructed by NUCA, 79 892 units were assigned to the armed forces, and 10,056 units were being executed by one of the public companies. The units will be handed over starting January 31 and until March 31.

Concerning New Alamein city, a project of converting the international route (Alexandria/Matrouh) with a length of 38 km is under construction and there will be a 10 km addition for reference. Moreover, 28 social housing apartments are also under construction, along with infrastructure work involving sanitation, telecommunication, and electricity.

In New East Port Said, the minister announced that they have submitted the architectural point zero to 4940 social housing apartments.The final location was also determined for the desalination plant for drinking water, with a total capacity of 250,000 cbm per day to serve the industrial area, the port, and the city.

However, various residential buildings in New Administrative Capital are still under construction.
