A new residential project, Bashyer El Kheir 3, will be constructed in Alexandria to move residents living in slum areas to much safer homes, following a protocol signed by the Housing Ministry’s Deputy for Urban & Slums Development Ahmed Adel Darwish, Invest-Gate reports.
“The contract signed aims to develop around two or three slum areas that are marked as unsafe in West of Alexandria,” Darwish said. “We will move residents from these areas that will be substituted with 336 new homes included in 110 residential buildings,” he added.
Encompassing 54 acres of land, the project is expected to be finalized within one year and will be provided to citizens in slum areas at a fixed monthly rental rate of around EGP 300, he added.
The Egyptian government had previously announced a plan to resolve slum areas in Egypt by mid-2018 based on presidential orders.
