New Akhmeem City will be witnessing the implementation of 2,600  housing units in as part of the first phase of Dar Misr project for middle income housing in the city, at a cost of EGP 300 mn, according to Hossam Fathy, Head of the City’s Authority, Al Mal reported.

The units will be spread across seven residential buildings, while tenders are expected to be offered to several contractors, including Al Salam for General Contracting. Fathy further noted that the city awaits approval from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) over the lands designated for the project to begin construction.

Fathy has also added that several commercial and public services projects will be implemented within the city at a cost of EGP 6 mn. The city’s total budget for year 2016/2017 is EGP 419 mn.

The city plans to also develop a university and expand public services facilities soon, Fathy added.

New Akhmeem City will also commence the construction of a road and lighting network with an estimated cost of EGP 50 mn this year.
