Khaled Abbas Addresses Industry on The Opening Day of Cityscape Conference

The Cityscape Egypt in-person Conference 2021, a two-day event taking place on September 21 at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel, Cairo, has been officially inaugurated by Khaled Abbas, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Invest- Gate reports.

The conference hosts a group of real estate experts using the platform to network, connect, share ideas, discuss trends facing Egypt’s real estate industry.

During the conference, Abbas updates the attendees on Egypt’s most recent urban and economic developments and spotlight the real estate sector’s exceeding growth rates in line with Egypt’s vision 2023.

In this regard, he states “Egypt witnessed a remarkable acceleration in the pace of economic development, which was driven by a proactive vision represented in the government who developed more than 50 strategic plans in accordance with the vision Egypt 2030 including the most important sectors and stakeholders in the country”. He further explains: “The real estate sector has achieved tremendous growth that has enabled us to raise the development rate from 7% to 9.5%, which we seek to increase to 14% by 2023.”

In his welcoming speech, Fathallah Fawzy, chairman of the Egyptian Businessmen Association’s (EBA) Construction Committee and Supervisor of the Cityscape Egypt Conference, comments “Cityscape Egypt has turned into a milestone event for the real estate sector’s development and investment growth. Over the years, the conference has acted as an umbrella to gather experts and capable minds to analyze the current outlook of the sector as well as provide solutions that contribute to one of the most important pillars of economic development in Egypt”.

“ For this year’s content, we have focused on how Egypt can capitalize on FDI and what opportunities Egypt’s New Cities will bring to both local and international investors. The discussions that have taken place so far between private and public partners are exciting, and we can’t wait to see how these come to fruition at the 10th edition of Cityscape Egypt taking place later this week,” Chris Speller, group director of Cityscape, adds.

Closing off day one of the conference has been a panel discussion hosted by Dina Salem, a senior business news anchor at Extra News. The panel has highlighted current and future trends.

Additionally, a group of experts has participated in this panel, including; Maged Salah, chief development officer, Hassan Allam Properties; Karim Akram, co-founder & MD, Lyve application; and Hossam El Shoukry, head of Real Estate, Siemens – Egypt. They have discussed how smart city technologies could improve the quality of life in new cities and urban developments, and what types of ROI real estate developers can look to when adopting smart city solutions.
