Makeshift houses in Sulaibiya and Taima in Kuwait are expected to be raised after the Public Authority for Housing Welfare amended law 36/2016 to prioritise the construction of low-cost housing, the Kuwait Times reported.
The law was approved by the legislative and executives branches of government in June and is expected to be implemented soon. The low-cost homes are expected to be built 45 kilometers away from Kuwait City.
The housing authority is obliged by law to establish a Kuwaiti shareholding company that aims to build, design, implement and operate homes of low costs to replace existing ones in Jahra and Sulaibiya, a source told the Kuwait Times. The areas are predominantly populated by Kuwait’s bedouin and bedoon populations.
