The Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities organizes a symposium titled “Urbanization…A Way to Fair and Sustainable Development” on the sidelines of the Energy Day at the green zone during the events of the United Nations Climate Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Invest-Gate reports.

The event also tackles the relationship between urbanization and the economy, especially the connection between the GDP of different countries and the level of urbanization in their cities.

Discussions also include the recent situation in new and old Egyptian cities and the main pillars of the national urban policies.

Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Executive Advisor for Sustainable Development at the Housing Ministry, highlights that the government has adopted a new approach to addressing challenges in existing cities through cooperation with different international institutions to ensure the highest levels of sustainability.

For his part, Ahmed Attallah, Senior Vice-President of Palm Hills Development, notes that the company constructed Badya to become the first sustainable city in Egypt by using the expertise of major international companies to create a general design that complies with environmental criteria.
