During the 12 months leading to July 2022, around 100,000 people leave Toronto, Canada’s major city due to the increase in housing costs, Invest-Gate reports, citing data by Statistics Canada.

Around 78% of these people relocate to other regions inside Ontario.

Moreover, around 35,000 and 14,000 people leave Montreal and Vancouver cities, respectively.

According to Statistics Canada, the county receives more than 600,000 immigrants annually, of which 216,600 stay in Toronto.

The data reflects the impact of the immigration policy of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
