Dubai Allows Rent Payments by Debit Cards

Dubai Land Department (DLD) allows tenants to use debit cards instead of a series of post-dated cheques that upon renewable or start of contracts, Invest-Gate reports.

According to a circular by the DLD, Dubai’s property rental platform, Ejari, is now integrated with the ‘noqodi’ direct debit system (UAEDDS), allowing tenants to have rent payments automatically debited from their accounts.

Rents in the UAE have been paid using cheques handed to landlords or rental agents.

“Adopting electronic payment methods for rent will benefit both property managers and landlords by reducing manual administrative tasks and post-dated check handling,” Niral Jhaveri, Head of Property Management at Betterhomes, comments.
