Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Moustafa Madbouly, signed a cooperation protocol with a Chinese company that has secured the supply of 5 million smart water meters for Cairo’s new administrative capital, as well as assistance in laying out the control systems of the capital, Invest Gate reported.

Khaled Abbas, Assistant Housing Minister for Technical Affairs, explained that this is the most important specialized company in smart city technology in China. The company has extensive experience in e-government, as well as security and traffic systems, and has worked in 200 Chinese cities.

Both parties will study the feasibility of the project, and choose the appropriate equipment, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Sanitation, Mamdouh Raslan. A decision will be reached within six months from the date of signing the protocol, he added.
Raslan noted that this will be the first time that smart water meters will be used by the Holding Company, and he hopes that in the future they will rely on locally manufactured smart meters.
