El-Gazzar, Tanzanian Deputy PM Review Progress of Julius Nyerere Dam, Hydroelectric Station Project

During his visit to Tanzania, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar held a meeting with Doto Biteko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Tanzania, to discuss the progress of the Julius Nyerere dam and hydroelectric station project, Invest-Gate reports.

This project is being implemented by the Egyptian alliance of The Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric companies on the Rufiji River in Tanzania.

The meeting was attended by Sherif Ismail, the Egyptian Ambassador to Tanzania, Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Reconstruction Agency and Chairman of the Project Follow-up Committee, Ahmed El-Assar, Chairman of the Arab Contractors, and Ahmed El-Sewedy, CEO of Elsewedy Electric. This is in addition to Hossam El-Din El-Rifi, First Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Arab Contractors, Wael Hamdi, Vice Chairman of Elsewedy Electric, and Ayman Attia, Member of the Board of Directors of The Arab Contractors.

During the meeting, El-Gazzar and Biteko discussed opportunities for joint cooperation between the two countries and explored avenues for Egyptian companies to venture into various sectors in Tanzania.

El-Gazzar emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi closely monitors the progress of this project due to its significance for Tanzania. The project aims to provide essential electrical energy to the Republic of Tanzania, control flooding in the Rufiji River, and ensure environmental preservation. Given the strong and enduring relations between the two brotherly countries, the project is of great importance for the political leadership in both nations.
