Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has overseen the handing over of units in the Zohour 15 Mayo (“May 15 Flowers”) project as alternative housing for individuals affected by the flood events, Invest-Gate reports.
During this joyful occasion, Abdel Muttalib Mamdouh, Vice President of the New Urban Communities Authority for the Development and City Development Sector, presented the keys to the housing units to the beneficiaries. The project was initiated as a response to the flood events that occurred in May 15 City in 2020.
The handover ceremony was held in the presence of Pastor Athanasius, the local church pastor, along with Wael Shaaban, Assistant Vice President of the authority, Mustafa Saeed, Head of the May 15 City Development Authority, members of the House of Representatives, deputy heads and assistants of the agency, department directors responsible for unit handovers, and various executive and service leaders from the city.
Mamdouh emphasized that the Ministry of Housing, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority and the May 15 City Authority, successfully implemented the Zohour 15 Mayo (“May 15 Flowers”) project following the directives of the political leadership.
He provided details about the May Flowers area, which spans 67.5 acres and is situated east of the Ring Road. The project includes residential buildings, model hangars, assembly stations, and various amenities. It comprises 42 residential buildings with a total of 1,008 units, each unit covering an area of 90 sqm. Additionally, the project features 834 model hangars, assembly stations, a warehouse area, a school spanning 4,000 sqm, a health unit covering 1,000 sqm, a nursery spanning 500 sqm, commercial areas spanning 1,750 sqm, as well as green spaces and roads.
