El-Gazzar Showcases Egypt’s Urban Experience to Zambian Counterpart

Assem El Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has met with Charles Milupi, the Zambian Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development, along with Ambassador Topply Mulambo Lubaya, the Zambian Ambassador to Cairo, and their accompanying delegation, Invest-Gate reports.

The purpose of the meeting was to present Egypt’s urban experience, especially in providing housing for low-income individuals, infrastructure projects, and other aspects of urban development. Officials from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company were in attendance.

El-Gazzar welcomed his Zambian counterpart and the accompanying delegation to their second home, Egypt, emphasizing Egypt’s readiness to share its experiences and successes in urban development and to extend a helping hand to their brothers in Zambia.

He also proposed meetings between experts from both ministries to transfer Egyptian expertise. He highlighted the capabilities of Egyptian construction companies to execute various development projects in African countries, including Zambia, given their extensive experience and highly trained human resources, alongside various building material manufacturing companies.

Moreover, El Gazzar emphasized that Egypt’s current urban renaissance is the application of the outputs of the national strategic plan for urban development, “Egypt 2052.” He explained that many of the plan’s outputs had been achieved and implemented well beyond the designated timeframes.

El-Gazzar highlighted that since 2014, the Egyptian government has begun implementing many new smart and sustainable cities within the Fourth Generation, aiming to improve the quality of life for Egyptian citizens.

For his part, Milupi praised Egypt’s efforts to improve its citizens’ quality of life, urging Egyptian companies to invest in infrastructure and social housing projects in Zambia through public-private partnerships. He emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in urban development and leveraging mutual experiences and expertise.
