Housing Minister Boosts Efforts to Localize Pump Manufacturing

Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has intensified efforts towards localizing pump manufacturing in the country, Invest-Gate reports.

This move follows Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly’s directive to boost the domestic production of pumps to meet the needs of developmental and service projects.

Moreover, El-Gazzar emphasized the political leadership’s focus on supporting domestic products and stimulating national factories. He stressed the importance of providing essential equipment for water and sanitation projects through local production, particularly within the Haya Karima (“Decent Life”) presidential initiative aimed at rural development.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, Sayed Ismail, held discussions with local specialized pump manufacturing factory leaders. They explored the status of local manufacturing and discussed plans to achieve domestic pump production.

Also, Ismail highlighted the significant demand for various electromechanical components, particularly pumps, in the local and neighboring markets, encouraging local and international companies to invest and operate within Egypt.

The ministry expressed full readiness to support local and international factories in meeting current and future demands, emphasizing the necessity of collaboration between relevant entities to ensure the success of the local manufacturing initiative.

Notably, at the meeting’s conclusion, Ismail stressed the importance of continued coordination to obtain necessary approvals and achieve increasing levels of local pump manufacturing.
