Assem El-Gazzar, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has been tracking cooperation with the European Union regarding maximizing available water resources and safely utilising treated sewage, industrial, and agricultural water, Invest-Gate reports.

In a related context, Sayed Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, participated in a workshop on European Union talks supporting project cycle management and EU-funded water activities in Egypt from 2021-2027.

Moreover, through public-private partnership plans, the workshop aimed to discuss key aspects of sustainable investment methods for water-related infrastructure, particularly emphasizing the safe reuse of treated industrial sewage instead of safe disposal.

Ismail welcomed water experts, ministry representatives, and participants, highlighting the fruitful and ongoing collaboration between the ministry and the European Union in water and sewage projects.

Furthermore, Ismail stressed the significance of industrial sewage for all ministries involved in water conservation and maximizing available water resources, which includes treating agricultural, industrial, and human sewage and safely reusing it for specific purposes, crucial for the private sector, business associations, and investors.

Notably, representatives from the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the Ministry of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Finance, the Industrial Development Authority and the Alexandria Free Zone Authority, the Environmental Affairs Agency, the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University, the Alexandria Business Association, and some entities under the Ministry of Housing attended the workshop, including the regulatory body for drinking water, sewage, and consumer protection, the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Alexandria Sewage Company, and the New Urban Communities Authority.
