Dr. Ahmed Shalaby Appointed as Board Member of United Nations Global Compact Network Egypt

The United Nations Global Compact Network Egypt has appointed Dr. Ahmed Shalaby, Co-Founder, President, and CEO of Tatweer Misr, as an elected board member for a three-year term, Invest-Gate reports.

This decision comes in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the real estate sector. It was made during the General Assembly, affirming Dr. Shalaby’s dedication to designing and launching numerous initiatives that support the private sector at large, foster the green transition and sustainability practices within the real estate industry.

Expressing his pride and acknowledging the weight of responsibility entrusted to him by the United Nations Global Compact Network Egypt, Dr. Shalaby stated, “We at Tatweer Misr recognize the vital role played by the United Nations Global Compact Network Egypt in developing effective plans and policies to expand the range of solutions addressing global challenges through collaboration and establishing partnerships with various entities and institutions, all aimed at achieving sustainable development goals.”

Dr. Shalaby further emphasized Tatweer Misr’s commitment to integrating sustainability principles and standards into all their work and projects, with the goal of accelerating green transformation and sustainable development.

The company has established a dedicated sustainability unit responsible for issuing regular reports on the company’s performance in the three dimensions of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability, in accordance with international standards and regulations.

Additionally, Tatweer Misr is actively working towards gradually reducing carbon emissions resulting from its projects and headquarters by 2050.

It is worth noting that Dr. Ahmed Shalaby brings over 30 years of experience in engineering consulting, real estate project development, and management in Egypt. He also possesses expertise in business management and strategic planning for major projects undertaken by the company.

Dr. Shalaby holds the position of professor of architecture and urban development at Cairo University and has previously served as a visiting professor in the City Planning Department at Cornell University in New York.

Furthermore, he serves as Chairman of the Egyptian Real Estate Council, Co-Chairman of the Real Estate Development Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, Vice Chairman of the Real Estate Export Council, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian-Emirati Business Council, and a member of the Africa Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC).
