Egypt, Jordan Share Expertise in Urban Development

Deputy Housing Minister Abdul Khalek Ibrahim; Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Support Fund; and Ghada El Bedawy, Undersecretary of the Ministry have held a video conference with Jumana Attyat, Director of the General Corporation for Housing and Urban Development in Jordan, Invest-Gate reports.

The second meeting in a series of collaborative sessions between the two nations, aimed to discuss Egypt’s experience in developing smart new cities, affordable housing, and green urbanization. Specialists from both Egyptian and Jordanian housing ministries participated.

Ibrahim welcomed the Jordanian delegation, expressing Egypt’s readiness to share its urban development expertise, which has seen significant progress under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He highlighted Egypt’s achievements in planning, sustainable development, and providing housing for various social strata.

Jumana thanked Egypt’s Ministry of Housing for the opportunity to learn from their rich urban development experience, emphasizing the strong and enduring ties between the two countries. She acknowledged Egypt’s impressive urban renaissance, drawing parallels to the country’s historical achievements like the construction of the pyramids.

During the meeting, Ibrahim emphasized Egypt’s successful urban development projects and the valuable lessons learned, which could benefit Jordan, especially in planning and attracting residents to new cities.

Abdel Hamid presented Egypt’s “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, praised by the World Bank as the largest and most effective globally. She also discussed Egypt’s green urbanization efforts and the role of the Social Housing and Mortgage Support Fund in providing affordable housing for low and middle-income citizens.
