Egypt Prepares to Host 12th World Urban Forum in November

Egypt is gearing up to host the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) from November 4-8 in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and the Ministry of Local Development, Invest-Gate reports.

The forum is one of the most significant global urbanisation and sustainable development events within the United Nations agenda.

Moreover, this marks a historic milestone as Egypt becomes the first African nation in 20 years to host the forum. The event highlights Egypt’s urban growth leadership and commitment to sustainable development.

Furthermore, major initiatives like creating new 4G cities, the “Decent Life” initiative, and efforts to eliminate slums demonstrate Egypt’s dedication to improving the quality of life.

The forum is critical when global challenges threaten development and cooperation. It presents a unique opportunity to reignite international collaboration and agree on an action plan for addressing key global issues such as housing, access to safe water, public spaces, climate change, and urban crises.

Also, with over 6,500 participants from 160 countries already registered, the forum will emphasize financial empowerment, equitable access to resources, and the role of technology in enhancing quality of life.

Notably, the event promises to go beyond discussion, encouraging innovative solutions and local transformation to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
