Grand Egyptian Museum, Schneider Electric Sign MoU for Smart Museum Technology

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and Schneider Electric have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance their cooperation using advanced technological solutions provided by Schneider Electric, Invest-Gate reports.

This collaboration aims to improve the museum’s energy efficiency and sustainability.

The MoU includes implementing Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform, which manages essential systems such as electricity, HVAC, water, gas, and data networks. These solutions will help the museum optimize energy use, predict and address system failures, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance cybersecurity, aligning with its sustainability goals.

This partnership builds on the successful collaboration between GEM and Schneider Electric for the Khufu Solar Boat Museum, which received global recognition for smart energy management.

Commenting on the MoU, Atef Moftah, General Supervisor of the GEM Project, said: “The Grand Egyptian Museum is a symbol of our national identity and cultural heritage. This collaboration with Schneider Electric will set a global standard for museum management, elevating Egypt’s status as a top tourist destination while contributing to our national sustainability goals.”

Sebastien Riez, CEO of Schneider Electric Northeast Africa and Levant, added: “We are proud to support the GEM, where ancient history meets modern technology. Our smart building solutions will help reduce energy consumption and emissions, in line with the museum’s vision for sustainability.”

The GEM’s recognition as Africa and the Middle East’s first green museum by the World Bank’s EDGE Advance program further underscores its commitment to environmental stewardship and resource conservation.
