Egypt, Turkey Explore Cooperation Opportunities to Enhance Targeted Industries in Egypt’s Utilities Sector

During his visit to Turkey, Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with the Governor of Kocaeli Province in Turkey to discuss ways and opportunities for cooperation aimed at maximizing targeted industries in Egypt’s utilities sector and exchanging expertise in this field, Invest-Gate reports.

El Sherbini elaborated that his current visit to Turkey aims to encourage Turkish factories and companies to establish a presence in Egypt through partnerships with the ministry, local and national factories, and to capitalize on opportunities available to industrial developers to localize industries in sectors prioritized by the ministry.

Accompanying El Sherbini were Sayed Ismail, Deputy Housing Minister; Ahmed Abdel Qader, Head of the Executive Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater; and Mohamed Nabil, Chairman of Badr Constructions Company. The meeting was attended by Sadat Oglu, Chairman of the Turkish company and factory Turbosan, specializing in manufacturing pumps for drinking water and sanitation projects.

El Sherbini emphasized that the visit falls within the framework of the high-level bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Turkey, reciprocal visits, bilateral meetings, and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries in the past.

Additionally, El Sherbini discussed with the Governor of Kocaeli, Turkey, Egypt’s current efforts to promote the localization of diverse industries, particularly those related to housing and utilities projects across the country.

He reiterated the ministry’s support for global factories and private sector companies to invest in Egypt to meet local and regional market demands in the Arab world and North Africa, providing industrial developers with opportunities to utilize land designated for industrial zones in new cities and governorates while overseeing their operations to ensure quality and reliability.

Furthermore, El Sherbini underscored the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to bolster and incentivize national industry and integrate modern technologies. The Ministry, through the New Urban Communities Authority, is facilitating the allocation of industrial lands at affordable rates and extending comprehensive support to domestic industries.
