Yesterday’s sessions within the Egyptian pavilion at the twelfth edition of the World Urban Forum in Cairo (WUF12), which commenced its activities on Monday with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s participation, featured strategic dialogues on digital transformation in urban management, Invest-Gate reports.
The discussions centered on empowering communities through new mechanisms to ensure smart transformation and enhance service quality nationwide. This occurred during an extensive session titled “Human Well-Being in the Age of Digital Transformation: The Egyptian Experience in Old and New Egyptian Cities.”
The session was attended by a notable group, including Bilal Habash, Deputy Governor of Aswan; Hesham Al-Helbawy, Assistant Minister of Local Development; Ahmed Rizk, Country Director of UN-Habitat in Egypt; Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the 6th of October City Authority; Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Senior Advisor for Urban Planning and Development; and Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan.
Mostafa highlighted the New Urban Communities Authority’s (NUCA) commitment to advancing digital transformation across all levels and showcasing cities’ capabilities to improve citizens’ access to services. He mentioned NUCA’s digital initiatives, such as comprehensive infrastructure projects.
During the session, Mostafa discussed the endeavors of the Central Unit for Spatial Data and Digital Transformation, emphasizing the establishment of a unified database for NUCA. This unit oversees the progress of initiatives like the Housing for All Egyptians project, various investment projects, and developments on over 50 feddans of land.
Mostafa further outlined how the Central Unit for Spatial Data and Digital Transformation has bolstered systems like real estate registration, the urban monitoring unit, electronic platforms, and other key projects.
