Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, is actively engaged in several ministerial meetings and sessions on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, during the third day of the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), Invest-Gate reports.
The focus is on assessing Egypt’s progress in localizing the Sustainable Development Goals and securing necessary funding to meet urban development targets. These efforts are crucial for creating employment opportunities, enhancing citizens’ living standards, addressing developmental challenges, and advancing towards the fulfillment of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Awad’s agenda for the day includes participating in a dialogue session titled “Localizing Sustainable Development Goals and Local Financing” and a special session hosted by the Egyptian government titled “Financing Sustainable Urban Development.”
Additionally, the minister is involved in a session dedicated to Qena Governorate, focusing on “Mobilizing Local Resources and Local Financing Strategies to Support Urban Development” and showcasing Qena Governorate’s experiences with local financing frameworks.
Furthermore, Awad is leading a side event for the Ministry of Local Development titled “Decentralization as a Tool for Delivering Services and Urban Development in Egypt and the Netherlands.”
As part of the day’s activities at WUF12, the minister is also scheduled to hold meetings with various ministers and delegations attending the forum to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation and exchange insights on local administration practices.
