Housing Minister, ACUD Chairman Review Progress on Development, Utility Projects in NAC

Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), to review the status of development and utility projects in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) during the third day of the World Urban Forum, Invest-Gate reports.

El Sherbini explained that the first phase of the drinking water purification plant in the NAC is being implemented, with a capacity of 400,000 m³ per day. The total capacity of the plant will be 1.5 million m³ per day, making it one of the largest facilities in the country.

This includes the construction of the intake system, lines for transporting turbid water, and cranes. The first phase of the sewage treatment plant in the NAC is also underway, with a capacity of 250,000 m³ per day.

Furthermore, El Sherbini and Abbas discussed the management and operation of the drinking water and sanitation system in the NAC. They confirmed that it is a smart system designed to uphold sustainability principles, including rationalizing consumption, reducing losses, maximizing the benefit from every drop of water, and reusing treated water for irrigation of green spaces in accordance with existing regulations.
