Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Mostafa Madbouly, has urged on Monday, November 27, the increase of the number of units currently being implemented in Upper Egypt, especially in new cities, Invest-Gate reports.
The minister, in a meeting with ministry officials, said new cities such as Nasser in west Assiut as well as west Qena should have more housing units constructed, according to a ministry statement.
The units are being financed through 17 banks and five mortgage companies, Mai Abdel Hamid, head of the Mortgage Finance Fund (MFF), is quoted in the statement as saying.
Occupancy rate in social housing units in 10th of Ramadan City reached 73%, according to reports reviewed during the meeting.
A total of 25 new schools were established as part of the social housing project in the city, according to Abdulmutallab Mamdouh, Vice President of New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).
