Schneider Electric’s Cairo Headquarters Achieves SmartScore Platinum Certification, Pioneering Sustainable Smart Building Standards

Schneider Electric is proud to announce that its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, has become the first facility in its global operations to achieve the prestigious SmartScore Platinum certification. This milestone highlights the building as a leading example of a smart and sustainable structure, reinforcing Schneider Electric’s dedication to advancing innovative technologies in energy management and automation, Invest-Gate reports.

The Cairo HQ now stands among an exclusive group of just 101 buildings worldwide and 38 in the Middle East to hold the SmartScore Platinum certification, reflecting Schneider Electric’s strong commitment to sustainable building practices on a global scale. This recognition, granted by WiredScore as a benchmark for smart buildings, celebrates the facility’s exceptional design, operational efficiency, enhanced energy performance, and adaptability to future challenges.

Thanks to Schneider Electric’s advanced EcoStruxure™ solutions, the headquarters has achieved nearly a 50% reduction in energy consumption, which translates to a decrease of 1,132 tons of CO₂ emissions. The building showcases significant energy savings of 40.3% compared to pre-EcoStruxure levels and a remarkable 48% improvement based on its digital twin model, exemplifying how smart technology can revolutionize modern architecture.

The upgrades implemented at Schneider Electric’s Cairo HQ have led to considerable environmental and financial benefits, including improved air quality through innovative ventilation systems equipped with CO₂ sensors, fostering a healthier indoor atmosphere. Furthermore, the company has optimized water and electricity use, leading to substantial reductions in utility costs. The introduction of comprehensive recycling and composting programs has also minimized waste treatment expenses. Enhanced space reconfiguration has increased seating capacity by 30%, while operational cost savings have reached between 15-20%, underlining the significant advantages of Schneider Electric’s sustainable design approach.

Sebastien Riez, CEO of Schneider Electric Northeast Africa & Levant, stated, “Achieving the SmartScore Platinum certification is a testament to Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. This accomplishment sets a new standard in our global and local operations and demonstrates that we not only advocate for sustainability but embody it in our practices. By utilizing our technology and solutions, we aspire to create resilient, efficient, and healthy work environments, aligning with our mission to optimize energy usage and advance sustainable building practices.”

Additionally, Schneider Electric’s team in Egypt has become the first group of WiredScore and SmartScore Accredited Professionals (APs) in the country. This accreditation positions Schneider Electric to provide consulting services to real estate developers, helping them achieve international certification standards and elevate smart building initiatives across Egypt and beyond.

SmartScore certification, developed in collaboration with property owners and users from the world’s most advanced buildings, establishes the global standard for smart infrastructure. This certification enables property owners to enhance user experiences and technological frameworks, ensuring that buildings deliver exceptional functionality, cost efficiency, and a robust digital foundation.
