Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has announced new facilitations for cooperative housing associations and professional syndicates to complete their projects on land allocated in new cities – excluding lands in the northwest coastal region, Invest-Gate reports.
These terms will remain valid for one year from the announcement date.
El Sherbini explained that the decision comes in response to requests from cooperative housing associations and professional syndicates allocated lands for cooperative or integrated urban activities, with ministerial decrees in place. The goal is to continue implementing projects that benefit their members and support urban development.
Minister El Sherbini further clarified that the facilitations are based on several conditions, such as the minimum completion of ground floors, the external facades, and surrounding fences in certain projects. The projects will be considered complete upon reaching 80% progress, provided full infrastructure and landscaping are in place.
Regarding lands previously withdrawn or canceled, the ministry will reconsider these for further development, coordinating with planning sectors. In cases where projects fail to reach 80% completion after a six-month extension, the land will be reallocated and offered for new projects.
The minister stressed that these conditions do not apply to lands allocated for social housing or in the northwest coastal region.
