Egypt Foreign Currency Inflows Up to USD 5.6 bn in January – CBE

Egypt’s banking system saw a rise in foreign-currency inflows by USD 1.5 bn month-on-month to a total of USD 5.6 bn by the end of January 31, state news agency MENA quotes Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Sub-Governor Rami Aboul Naga as saying on January 4.

The country’s foreign reserves reached USD 38.209 bn at the end of January 2018, compared to USD 37.019 bn at the end of December 2017, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Also in January, Egypt repaid USD 290 mn of a USD 350 mn installment to Paris Club members, Bloomberg quoted the Central Bank Governor Tarek Amer as saying.
