PM Reviews Progress on Housing Projects and “Haya Karima” Initiative with Housing Minister

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Housing Minister Sherif El Sherbini on Monday to review the ministry’s ongoing projects, including the “Haya Karima” presidential initiative, the “Beit El Watan” programme for Egyptians abroad, and new housing offerings for low and middle-income citizens, Invest-Gate reports.

El Sherbini confirmed that 1,379 out of 1,811 water and sewage infrastructure projects under Haya Karima have been completed in rural areas, with remaining work progressing steadily.

The minister also shared updates on the development plan for the Greater Pyramids area (Sphinx–Dahshur), which is being reviewed in collaboration with tourism and planning experts.

Addressing the government’s housing efforts, El Sherbini said that a directive from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to offer 400,000 housing units across various segments — including low, middle, and luxury — is now underway. The first phase includes 35,088 units, while 115,000 more will soon be offered under the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative.

El Sherbini noted that 65 projects comprising over 75,000 units are currently being marketed through real estate firms. He added that the “Beit El Watan” initiative, targeting Egyptians living abroad, has generated around $10 bn in sales so far.

The minister also addressed the “Your Home in Egypt” programme, highlighting high reservation rates and solid revenue figures.

Finally, El Sherbini outlined development plans for public parks in Cairo, including Al Azbakeya, Imbaba, and Al Fustat Gardens, where investment opportunities, cultural events, and urban agriculture are being integrated into their management.
