Housing Minister Sherif El Sherbini met with Dong Jian Guo, China’s Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital to explore avenues for cooperation and experience sharing, Invest-Gate reports.
El Sherbini welcomed the Chinese delegation and representatives of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), commending the ongoing collaboration on Egypt’s Central Business District (CBD) in the New Capital and downtown towers in New Alamein. He stressed the importance of maximizing investment in national megaprojects and emphasized the broader scope of bilateral cooperation over the past decade under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership.
He also highlighted efforts to localize industries involved in Egypt’s housing projects, in line with presidential directives, and announced the signing of a letter of intent between both housing ministries and a protocol for the operation and maintenance of the CBD project. Another cooperation protocol was signed between Arab Contractors and the Chinese side, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Dong Jian Guo thanked Egypt for the warm reception and noted the strategic partnership between both nations, rooted in strong leadership from Presidents El Sisi and Xi Jinping. He viewed the signed agreements as a model of mutual benefit and expressed China’s readiness to expand cooperation in housing, infrastructure, and urban-rural development.
During the meeting, Assistant Minister Abdel Khalek Ibrahim presented Egypt’s urban development plans, which aim to expand urban areas from 7% in 2010 to 15% of the country’s land, and to build smart cities and sustainable housing projects.
The meeting concluded with the formal signing of the cooperation documents.
